About Xerophyte.Garden
Xerophyte.Garden is an expanding online database of xerophytes, succulents, cacti, and other drought-adapted plants from around the world. Our overall goal of this website is to document as many plants as possible and organize the information so it is easy to search, browse, compare, and understand for all ages.
Building a Large Xerophyte Database
There are 1000s of succulent and xerophytic plants spread across numerous families, genera, species, cultivars, hybrids, and geographic regions. Xerophyte.Garden is being built as a long-term reference for that diversity.
Individual plant profiles may include:

Information varies by plant because reliable information is not equally available for every species.
More Than Individual Plant Profiles
The database is also organized into broader collections designed to make plants easier to discover. You can search plants by genus, plant type, appearance, growing conditions, geographic origin, growth habit, and other characteristics. How Information Is Researched
Plant information is compiled and compared using botanical databases, horticultural references, government and university resources, scientific literature, established plant organizations, specialist resources, and other credible sources when available.
Plant taxonomy is constantly changing. Different references may also disagree about accepted names, native ranges, classifications, cultivars, or growing recommendations. Existing profiles may therefore be corrected, expanded, or reorganized as better information becomes available.
An Ongoing Project
Xerophyte.Garden is not intended to be a finished collection. Ever hear the saying “a website is never finished”? New plants, photographs, classifications, facts, references, comparisons, and collections will continue to be added as the database grows.
